Ever wondered what you could do with one of the largest video screens in the world? Call Batman? Show the latest stock market results? Come on... there's only one thing you can do when you’ve gotten a huge 159 x 71 feet screen: play video games! And should that game be one of the bloodiest, most violent titles on consoles, namely Gears of War 2, all the better! This is exactly what Steve Fatone did on the Dallas Cowboys stadium video screen.
Though I'd have chosen a game with a more dramatic storyline such as Mass Effect or Half Life, Gears of War 2 definitely shows how epic playing a game on such a screen is. What better way to entertain the public during the break of a Dallas Cowboys' match but with a playthrough of everyone's favorite game?
Just in case you're not familiar with who exactly the Dallas Cowboys are, you should know that they are an American football team based in the suburb of Arlington, Texas. It seems they are the second most valuable sports franchise in the world, second only to Manchester United. And having only Manchester United in front definitely says a lot of good things about any team.
As for Gears of War, well, it is better known than even the Dallas Cowboys. Developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios, it was initially an exclusive Xbox 360 title but was later ported on the PC due to its massive success. Its sequel, Gears of War 2 (the one played by Steve Fatone) is currently an Xbox 360-only title and has had the same success (if not more) as its predecessor.
The games tell the story of the Delta Squadron members Marcus Fenix and Dominic “Dom” Santiago, in their relentless battle against a subterranean enemy known as the “Locust Horde.” An exciting tale, now told on an 11,200 square foot screen.
