Gemalto, one company that develops and provides digital security solutions, announced today the launch of its smart card enabled personal security USB device, which offers digital data integrity and also data loss prevention for enterprises, namely the Protiva Smart Guardian.
Smart Guardian offers nomad workforces with
a trusty platform to securely access corporate resources, combining endpoint control and secure data storage for protecting sensitive information. An unsurpassed level of security is guaranteed with this since the encrypted data actually never leaves the Smart Guardian and all attempts to tamper with it will be detected thus notifying an intrusion attempt that will cause the dongle to zero-out its contents.
Besides providing the maximum levels of security, the Smart Guardian is impressively easy and convenient to use by simply inserting the authorized portable token and
entering a passphrase to unlock the device so that any data transferred to it will automatically be encrypted. The neat thing about the Smart Guardian is that it uses two levels of authentication factors, namely the USB dongle that the user has, as well as the passphrase that the user knows, therefore ensuring only authorized users are provided access to the encrypted data, even in case the Smart Guardian is stolen or lost.
“One of the biggest information security challenges today is protecting the large amount of confidential data used by business organizations and government agencies,” commented Cedric Collomb, Senior Vice-President, Identity and Access Management at Gemalto. “The combination of endpoint control and secure data storage makes Smart Guardian tokens the ideal platform for protecting sensitive information and controlling how these are transferred throughout the virtual workplace.”
This elegant token combines proven secure smart card technology from Gemalto with the secure flash technology from Lexar, while its management options allow end-users and administrators to register new devices, update software, deploy protected corporate applications and even remotely block a lost or stolen token and destroy its content.
