While online shopping is, quite obviously, the easiest way to purchase most products nowadays, the truth of the matter is that, in certain situations, this activity can be a pretty risky one, leading to data breaches and the loss of important financial information (like one's credit card number and security code, for example). However, in order to make things more secure, Gemalto has released the Ezio device, which is ready for use with Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) new Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) feature.
The
Gemalto Ezio Time Token is a small and lightweight device that provides a unique six digit one-time password (OTP). The user simply presses a button on the device and the OTP is displayed. The generated password is only good for one access attempt within a short time interval. The Multi-Factor Authentication feature allows users to combine something they know, their email address and password, with something they have, the Gemalto Ezio device, to ensure only
authorized users are accessing their AWS account.
Francois Lasnier, Vice President and General Manager of Gemalto’s North American Security business unit, stated that “Cloud computing and Web services are designed for convenient access to online resources and are experiencing strong adoption within
enterprise accounts. This makes it essential to ensure only appropriate users are gaining access to these online services and resources. With our full range of Ezio devices, such as the OTP Time Token, AWS users can experience the freedom of easy and secure multi-factor authenticated account access from anywhere at any time with any type of terminal.”
Last, but certainly not least, it's important to mention the fact that the Gemalto Ezio Time Token is affordable enough for pretty much anyone out there, given the fact that the manufacturer is selling it for just around 13 US dollars, which is a very small sum, compared to what users might save on the long term by using it.
