This piece of news might seem unreal to some of you, but the gold vending machines are not that new on the market. Thomas Geissler, a German entrepreneur, has developed this type of ATM ever since last year and has now introduced one in the world's most expensive hotel. Located in United Arab Emirates in the city of Abu Dhabi, the Emirate Palace is now home to one of the most
luxurious toys for the ultra-rich.
Thomas Geissler has developed the gold vending machines under the “Gold to Go” brand last year and Switzerland, Austria and Germany were the first countries to have such devices. In the picture here you can see one of those first machines capable of vending gold. The one recently planted in the Emirate Palace luxurious hotel is capable of delivering to its customers bars of
gold as large as 10 grams or
coins with custom designs.
The first international foray of Thomas Geissler is an ATM-style kiosk which gladly accepts cash for the its bars of gold. Though the producers don't mention anything about being afraid of credit card fraud, it seems like the only logic reason why users have to pay with cash for gold on a vending machine like this one.
The gold vending machine has a system of monitoring the precious material's price rates, because as you probably already know, it is constantly growing. So it seems like you can add one more item on the “precious things you can buy from an ATM” list (which only contained soda on a very hot day), because if you happen to be in any of the places where Geissler has placed his special vending machines, you will be able to exchange the papers we call money with more valuable assets.
