Similar to the solution we could see a few weeks ago from Evoluce, but without the touchless interaction, GestureTek introduced the GestTable featuring a 42-inch multitouch LCD at InfoComm, in Las Vegas. According to
engadget and
hot hardware, this company also flaunted a 70-inch freestanding multitouch display at the event.
"Our hardware innovations nicely compliment our deep insight into all forms of
advanced display and digital signage applications, particularly multi-touch, immersion, 3D vision, mobile device interactivity, object recognition, motion and object tracking, and even face tracking," said Vincent John Vincent, Co-Founder and President of GestureTek.
Regarding the 42-inch LCD
multitouch surface computing solution, don't think you'll be browsing the web on it sometime in the future, but expect it to be found in malls or other public areas where you'll be able to interact with it for various reasons, or simply for fun. The screen is capable of delivering 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD resolution and its multi-touching capabilities are supported by more cameras running at 100 fps. The panel can be built into
other pieces of furniture as well, which means you can now get Angelina Jolie closer to you. GestureTek's multitouch solution supports Microsoft Surface apps developed for Windows Touch, but it originally runs on Windows 7 HID.
"The burgeoning roster of flagship organizations that have used GestureTek technology – including LG Electronics, Clearwire, Old Navy, Hugo Boss, Pennzoil, Walt Disney World, CNN, Pepsi, Vodafone, Sony, Samsung, Intel and Gillette – is testimony to GestureTek's long-time pioneer status and successful focus on solving difficult computer vision problems to power robust industrial, enterprise and consumer applications," added Mr. Vincent.
Though a lot of solutions of this sort keep being announced, there are few who actually reach the public. This modular system presented by GestureTek at InfoComm is about to have the same fate, as the official announcement does not contain information regarding the availability date or its pricing.
