As some of you out there probably already know, the PS3 is not only one of the most powerful (both hardware and software-wise) gaming consoles out there, but it's also the Blu-ray player of choice for many people, who are not willing to cough up an extra amount of cash for a function that
Sony's gaming console is capable of easily carrying out on its own.
And in order to help users take advantage to a further degree of the extensive multimedia playback features delivered by the PS3, a company called
Gioteck has released the MX-1 Micro media remote, which features not only a highly-attractive design, but also very small (and easy to carry around) form factor.
According to the manufacturer, every function the remote control has to offer has been thoughtfully positioned onto dual rings, offering simply what the user needs. With a length of only 4 inches and a depth of just over a quarter of an inch, it will occupy a very small amount of space just about anywhere, around the user's office.
Its control system is designed around the rotation of the thumb; Play, Pause, Fast Forward, Chapter Skip, etc. are right where one would expect them to be. With short and long press options, only two rings and a center button are required to access all the functionality of the remote. And since we're on this issue, we'll also have to point out the fact that the device will easily control each setting of the
PS3, including Blu-ray and DVD Movies playback, as well as the Cross Media Bar.
Gioteck also informs us that this device will prove to be an ideal companion to their upcoming In2Link module system, since the In2link hub utilizes a built-in widescreen infra red receiver, eliminating the need for extra IR dongles.
Sadly, no details regarding the pricing and/or availability have been provided thus far, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as they become available.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
