Just as I was telling you recently, Google is definitely a giant, with limitless powers, that come to think about it, is not any joke. This following article is about the same entity that has just unveiled one of the most impressive toys that I have ever come across, namely the Liquid Galaxy Project. What you see to your left is just the booth put up by a few engineers in their spare time, but that's just half of the thing.

The wraparound LCD screens are actually synced to display views from Google Earth so that users or viewers can use a six-axis mouse to move their way through air and water.

I have to admit that the effect is most stunning and mesmerizing, especially for the ones 3D modeling-savvy, as they can relate to what it would take for a human to model and render such a large environment. It would take a lot of computing power that I guess Google is also using just to run the simulation.

“It was amazing to all of us how much more impressive Google Earth felt when we were surrounded by screens and able to turn our heads to look around (and even walk around),” said Jason Holt, a software engineer at Google, that first announced the project by the end of last year.

Upon further informing myself from the Google official blog, the Liquid Galaxy project takes advantage of both Google Earth and Street View to unveil the whole world to viewers. Furthermore, the system also supports Voice Searching, as you will be able to see in the video below. The video was recorded by Mashable staff at the live demo, made by creator Jason Holt at TED. Last, I will let the father of the project tell you one more thing that you will notice too. “It felt more like a ride than a computer program, something between an observation-deck and a glass-walled spaceship.”
