It has been a long time coming, but Google TV is getting ready to be released so the Mountain View based company just announced several of its content partners, Turner Broadcasting, NBC Universal, HBO and the NBA being among those interested in offering their services on Google's interactive platform.
This means that future Google TV users would have an even greater freedom of choice when it comes to premium web content since websites like TBS, TNT, CNN or Cartoon Network have been optimized for viewing on Google TV while NBC and NBA have built special applications for this platform.
HBO will also share on-demand content via their new HBO GO service adding to the likes of Amazon Video on Demand or Netflix.
Impressive as it may seem, Google says this is just the beginning and more and more websites will enhance their web content for their television platform in the coming weeks, in order to join sites like USA Today, VEVO, Pandora, Napster, Twitter or blip.tv.
YouTube is also among the list of supported websites, their Leanback interface being specially created for this platform.
For those of you that don't really know all that much about Google TV you can read our previous report concerning this platform, but, basically, this is a software solution for HDTVs and set-top-boxes that is based on the Android operating system and provides users with a Chrome browser together with Flash support for viewing web content.
All in all, things seem to shape up really nicely for the Google TV platform, but we will have more news once Google's hardware partners announce their first products based on this software, Logitech being the first to do so, scheduling their device for being launched on October 6.
