Time for yet another announcement from that certain company that you've heard me mention twice before today, namely HP. It seems that Hewlett-Packard has just unveiled new
Compaq PCs that seek to offer families a great price over power average. We all know that mom and dad or the little shop around the corner isn’t looking to break the sound barrier or develop some sort of ultra complicated Artificial Intelligence. They are looking for something cheap and good to use in order to watch movies, surf the web and chat.
Let me first introduce you to the Compaq Presario 4010f desktop PC. This device features a starting price of 309 USD, has an AMD Sempron processor, NVIDIA GeForce integrated graphics, as well as a 250GB hard drive. As far as memory goes, I haven't a clue how large the available memory is but I'd be willing to bet on 2GB DDR2 and not be afraid I will lose. I admit that to you or me this
PC might seem quite underpowered but keep in mind that this is not a computer for power users.
Next in line are the 500B Series desktop PCs, which come available with Intel or AMD processors, feature configurable hard drives and memory and an unspecified graphics adapter. An array of bays and ports allow for maximum expandability. The 500B and 505B desktop PCs will start 359 and 409 USD, respectively.
Last but not least comes the Compaq Presario CQ61z notebook PC, a 15.6-inch laptop with a 16:9 HD display and a six-cell lithium-ion battery. Starting at 399 USD, it should be made available on October 22 together with the rest. Sorry for the lack of information, however, I haven't got anything else to offer you.
I'll leave you with Steven Hoffman, director of worldwide marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP, “Everyone deserves access to a high-quality computer, and HP makes that possible with the Compaq brand. […] The Compaq portfolio delivers great design, strong performance and reliability that customers need for ‘just right computing’ at ‘just the right price’.”
