Everyone is releasing pocket sized Full HD camcorders nowadays, HP being the latest company to join the party with their V5020u offering that adds a built-in gyroscope for image stabilization to the already familiar lineup of features.
Although this is actually HP's first foray into the
mini-camcorder market, the company seems to have done things right, the V5020u offering 1080p video recording at 30fps in the H.264 format while also offering 720p at 60fps or WVGA at 30fps.
As usual, you can also capture still images, thanks to the 5MP image sensor used by HP, and then view it on that rather small 2 inch LCD, thrown in the back of the camera.
Other features include
HDMI video out, an SDHC card slot and a pretty much useless 10x digital zoom.
HP does however get some credit for the strong bundle, the V5020u coming with a wrist strap, cleaning cloth, HDMI cable, and carrying pouch, while the added image stabilization and motion detection features also make this stand out a little bit from the pack.
Pricing is also right, the HP V5020u coming in at $159 when it will be available in October, so this could prove to be an interesting option if you want to buy a basic, pocket sized camcorder. (via
