Besides all of the portable computing solutions we've talked up until now (and a couple we haven't mentioned yet, but we will, at a later date), HP has also brought to this year's CES one of the slimmest desktop PCs around, the new HP Compaq 8000f Elite, which, according to the company's own statement, is “the size of a ream of paper.”
However, size is not necessarily the most important selling point of the fresh
system from HP. In fact, the manufacturer underlines the fact that this thing is also extremely eco-friendly, starting from the materials it's been built from and ending with the packaging, 100 percent paper-based recycled molded pulp cushions.
Additionally, the HP Compaq 8100 Elite Desktop PC Series, also announced at CES, features 89 percent energy-efficient power supplies, supports energy-saving technologies such as solid state drives (SSDs) and offers HP power-management solutions that help support lower energy usage and costs. Utilizing Microsoft operating systems, such as Windows 7 and future Intel Core or Core vPro processors, the HP Compaq 8100 Elite Series offers faster, multicore technology for enhanced performance.
HP introduced two eco-friendly displays, the HP Compaq LE19f and the HP Compaq LA22f Widescreen LCD Monitors, as well. Available in 19- and 22-inch diagonal sizes, these displays are BFR/PVC-free and contain no mercury; they're also HP’s first to feature WLED low-power-consumption backlit panels.
HP continues to exceed customer expectations with a range of
business products designed with both the environment and productivity in mind,” said Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group, Americas,
HP. “With great designs, energy-saving features and efficient, faster-performing products, customers can feel confident choosing HP products to better position themselves in the ever-competitive business world.”
The HP Compaq 8000f Elite and HP Compaq 8100 Elite start at $849 and are expected to be available in the United States in February, which is also the availability date set for the HP LA19f and HP LA22f widescreen monitors that will begin at $179.
