There seems to be no limit on how small a computer can go these days since Habey, an affiliated company of Intel, recently announced a fanless PC that fits inside the palm of your hand, but is capable of decoding full 1080p HD video content without braking a sweat.
This impressive feat is possible since the Habey BIS-6620-IV features integrated Intel GMA 500 graphics (that is actually a PowerVR SGX 535 core licensed from Imagination Technologies rather then a Intel in-house developed solution) that is capable of offering Full HD hardware decoding acceleration for a wide number of formats, including H.264, MPEG2, VC1, and WMV9.
Developed around an Intel US15W chipset with less than 5W power consumption, this tiny 4.5x4.5x1.5 inches PC manages to somehow fit inside its cramped case a Intel Atom Z5xx series processor (Z510 or Z530) together with 2GB of DDR2 memory.
Storage-wise, this unit comes with a micro-SATA interface that supports 1.8" SSD or HDD drives, a SD and CF card reader being also available in the front of the case together with two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 1.3a output being present in the back of the device.
Ethernet connectivity comes as standard, but users would have to pay extra if they also want WiFi being added to their unit.
Price-wise, the Habey BIS-6620-IV is available starting at $319.99, the base configuration coming with a 1.1GHz Intel Atom Z510 processor, customers having to add their own memory and storage drive to the mix.
