Until now, we have seen a lot of chargers for portable gadgets being able to attach themselves to different parts of our bodies, but somehow, we overlooked the most important part. The head is the place where we haven't put chargers for our phones yet and you can now relax because two Indian students have come up with the corresponding invention. The helmet that can recharge your phone via solar panels during the day and with the help of
wind during the night.
Of course, this invention might not be that practical in the Western parts of the world, where scooters are not that popular and I really don't see SUV owners switching to one just because of the helmet that will charge their iPhone.
Nevertheless, the students presented this charging helmet, which is also going to be patented at their electrical engineering university “green fest,” according to
SiliconIndia. Their invention can power up a mobile phone in just 40 minutes, if you can use both power technologies at the same time, which means if you are riding at full speed on a very sunny day. These two students also want to sell their invention, for about $23 a piece and this is because they would like to promote safe riding in India. Talk about saving the world.
The invention is great, I am not saying that it is not, but I just don't see us dressing from head to toe into chargers anytime soon, with a Bracer Battery Life 2+ charger on one wrist, a
Thanko Wristband battery 2 on the other, a
solar panel backpack on our backs and this helmet on our head. We'd be
completing the Robocop outfit with a pair of GPS shoes, which we'll power from the two portable solar chargers in our pockets. I really don't see it happening. Via
