Most people simply adore the Amazon Kindle. I don't. I hate it just like I hate every other e-book reading device out there. Like the IAC Prodigy, which tries to be better than the Kindle and it actually succeeds in doing so. Keep on reading for more info about the IAC Prodigy and why I hate e-book readers.
Let me start by introducing you to the IAC Prodigy e-reader. The Prodigy is an e-reader said to ship in Taiwan in Q4 this year and that has not one wireless option, not two wireless options but every major wireless option that anyone around the world could think a device such as this should have. Such as, EV-DO Rev. A, WCDMA / HSPA, WiMAX, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and so on.
If you thought that was impressive, check this out: it also has a 6-inch 800 x 600 e-paper touchscreen, 256MB NAND Flash memory, 128MB DDR memory, 2GB NAND storage and a Marvel PXA310 processor. The only downside would be the fact that it has one of the ugliest designs I've seen to date. Also, it is a bit fatter than your average e-reader.
Now, for my problem. You see, I hate the fact that e-reader manufacturing companies everywhere keep on making these highly advanced super compatible e-readers when the thing I want most (as a customer, that is) is a simple e-reader with just one universally recognized connectivity option (such as HSPA), no e-store incorporated (most of us e-book human readers already HAVE the e-books), a rugged construction, the simplest and fastest button layout and... that's it.
Nothing else. That would make it a device that would be sold for less than 200 dollars and Nintendo showed us how successful a cheap product can be (Wii and DS).
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
