While I don't own a Sony Ericsson phone (but I do have a small Walkman player), the truth of the matter is that there are plenty of people out there who opt for such a combo. And exactly for this category, Sony presented at IFA 2009 its ICF-C8WM Clock Radio, a device that also features a built-in dual-charger, designed to juice up the batteries of both a Sony Ericsson phone and a Walkman music player connected to it.
According to Sony, the ICF-C8WM is a
clock radio that will charge one's Walkman or Sony Ericsson phone while the respective person is sleeping, and wake them up with their own choice of music from either device. Or, should they choose to do so, they can also wake up to their favorite radio station instead thanks to the built-in FM/AM tuner. Of course, this device doesn't really have that much power to back it, namely just somewhere in the vicinity of 0.8W RMS output, but that should theoretically prove to be enough even for those deep morning sleepers out there.
The dual charger system is indeed not only innovative, but also space-saving, since the slide-out dock ensures the fact that the
alarm clock takes very little room around the house per se. Plus, the device comes with a very simple control interface and a very useful omni-directional wireless remote for when reaching over is too much of an effort.
To make sure the display is just right, there are three brightness levels, and users can choose exactly how they want to doze off and wake up with a sleep timer, a snooze timer and a dual alarm. Moreover, the device also sports an internal backup battery that ensures uninterrupted operation even if the mains goes down.
All in all, we're talking about a fairly useful
system here, but the truth of the matter is that one can fully benefit from what this thing has to offer only if he/she owns both an SE phone and a Walkman, otherwise the whole thing is a tad overkill.
