Google TV is one of the most interesting technologies that are planned to launch this fall, but, nevertheless, we may be nearer to its launch then we thought since Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini, said this platform is set to launch this month.
The report comes via the
Electronista website, and states the first Google TV enabled
consumer devices should start shipping this September, although is not known if this offerings will come from Logitech or Sony, since both companies have announced products based on this platform.
Other manufacturers could also be involved since small players often rush to bring new technologies to market in order to steal the spotlight and draw some attention in their direction.
But whoever may be behind these very first products to reach us in September, one thing is certain, Otellini should be pretty well informed since
Intel has been responsible for about 50% of the code used in Google TV.
In the same interview, Otellini also made some remarks considering Apple TV, saying that Apple's solution and Google TV could coexist since the two should appeal to different audiences, the GTV platform being targeted towards more advanced users.
When available, the
Google TV platform will use the Google Chrome browser together with full Flash support in order to offer complete access to the Internet, in a similar way to your computer, the ultimate goal being to provide an Interactive Television platform.
