JL Audio, one of the most renowned companies to what regards car audio, set a new standard in mobile amplification fidelity and efficiency in 2009 with the HD amplifiers, whereas now, in 2010, the design has been approached to a new level, along with the introduction of more
affordable and compactly designed solutions for suiting most outrageous installation needs or spaces. These, my friends, are the fresh XD Amplifiers, which are probably the new top notch from this company.
The XD amplifier series will include five models that all take advantage of the company's hyper-efficient NexD technology, which can deploy a massive, audiophile-grade performance from an impressively small chassis, while also achieving an outstanding efficiency of about 80%. These employ an unregulated power supply, yet still deliver an excellent balance of fidelity, power and size of the package, thus putting a far smaller strain on the car's electrical system, compared to common "big" amplifiers.
Funny how a letter mistyped can lead to disaster, or close, as JL Audio mentioned they have a compact unitary alloy chassis that provides cooking (Wait, what? Cooling, they meant) for their efficient circuitry, aside from being monitored by the company's Advanced Rollback System, which
takes care of eliminating those thermal shutdown events. Under the removable control cover, the XD amplifiers feature a studio-grade (yeah, right) signal processing with fully variable crossover filters.
The new XD600 is a Class-D monoblock subwoofer amplifier also packing the company's noise-killing and highly flexible differential-balanced inputs, with remote level control capabilities. Customers of this will benefit from 600 watts in a 2 ohm load, 500 watts for 3 ohms or 400 watts in 4 ohms, all with a 217 x 180 x 52 mm footprint. Pricing for it is suggested at $449.95.
