Right now, reducing the thickness of their TV sets represent one of the most important goals for most manufacturers of such consumer electronics, besides improving image quality, of course. And one of the thinnest such devices has just been introduced by JVC in the form of the GD-32X1, a full HD LCD TV set that is just 6.4-mm thick, thus making it one of the slimmest series products of this type to arrive onto the market.
Aside from being so thin, the GD-32X1 is able to deliver 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) on its 32-inch display (120HZ compliant), which offers a total display surface of 698.4mm x 392.85mm, in 16:9 aspect ratio. Viewing angles are also very good, namely 178 degrees on both horizontal and vertical directions.
The new JVC HDTV sports a 400 cd/m2 brigthness level, as well as a contrast ratio of up to 4000:1. Moreover, it comes equipped with stereo speakers (5W per channel), which are capable of delivering very good quality sound, in order to match the great image quality.
As far as the connectivity options are concerned, the GD-32X1 offers a wide range of ports, including here HDMI, VGA, Component and Composite connectors, as well as an SD/SDHC card slot and a USB slot that can be used for JPEG/MP3 playback directly on the TV screen. Of course, the necessary audio inputs and outputs are included.
The JVC GD-32X1 LCD HDTV is scheduled to arrive on the Japanese market in late August, with no pricing information being available for the time being. Sadly, no word on availability on the Western markets either, which means there's a very good chance that the rest of the world will have to wait until Christmas (in the best case) in order to be able to purchase this ultra-thin device.
