Jaeger-LeCoultre has a history of timepiece engineering stretching back more than 175 years. The partnership between Aston Martin and Jaeger-LeCoultre began in 2004 with the launch of the Aston Martin Jaeger-LeCoultre gentleman’s watch - the AMVOX1. The limited edition timepiece housed precision engineering in a design inspired by the past which revived a link between the two companies, going back more than 70 years. Now, the Swiss watchmaker has come out with three new watch models that would make James Bond proud.
Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched the first watch to control access to a sports car. The AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch incorporates a micro-transmitter system serving to lock and unlock the DBS car, while preserving the functions of the vertical trigger mechanical chronograph. As the driver nears the car, all he needs to do is press the OPEN position on the watch glass in order to activate the door opening system, whereas doing the same thing on the CLOSE will lock the vehicle.
The miniaturization of the transponder module housed in the case-back, its wiring and its transmitter antenna have been completely redesigned from a watchmaker’s angle. The antenna is metallic on the inside of the sapphire crystal in a shape following the curve of the dial and is connected to the locking control contact rectangles (OPEN and CLOSE). An authentic high-tech feat that called for 18 months’ meticulous work.
The AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS is a clear demonstration of the excellence consistently cultivated by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. The AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS combines an amazing mechanical design inspired by the world of the Aston Martin DBS with the technical revolution represented by its chronograph movement. An ingenious mechanism serves to start, stop and reset the functions by simply pressing the sapphire crystal watch glass, while a function-locking device avoids any inadvertent activation or deactivation of the chronograph.
The AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS comes as a limited series of 200 in 950 platinum and limited series of 499 in stainless steel.
The case of the innovative AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT is crafted in 950 platinum and high-tech black ceramics, a material made of yttrium oxide and zirconium oxide. It houses an automatic movement with a tourbillion regulator. Its patented oscillating weight is made from avant-garde materials: a segment composed of a platinum and iridium alloy, as well as arms made from carbon fibers. The design is inspired by the prestigious world of Aston Martin cars. The watch has been tested for 1000 hours and is water resistant to 5 ATM .
