Though many of you probably thought this a long time ago for the first time, you now have video proof that robotics is a religion in Japan. How do we know this? It seems like the ceremonial wedding speech that a priest of some sort usually holds, before a couple makes the decision to get married, is reproduced by robots in Japan.
Sure, in Japan the robot is already a
cultural phenomenon, with the research and development in this field reaching outstanding levels there and it was only a matter of time before they took it to the next step. The Tokyo couple in question said that it was robotics that got them together in the first place, since they both activate in the robot industry and to be wed by the I-Fairy “was a natural choice.” Clearly they have a well developed sense of humor.
Their wedding took place in a rooftop restaurant in Tokyo and hopefully the couple will live happily ever after. The video in which the robot advices the groom to
kiss the bride can be found on
BBC News. At the end of the ceremony, “Congratulations” are heard from its speakers.
I am curious to whether the catholic church will react to this BBC news or not. They usually like to exaggerate whenever a story like this takes place. Nevertheless, this I-Fairy robot here seems to be doing a great job replacing the religious official. I already know that there are robots built to replace journalists and
in Japan there are more dancing robots than anywhere else on the planet. If I were to exaggerate a little, there is little time before we see the first marriage between a robot and a human, or was that just a bad movie I once saw?
