Technology has evolved a bit ever since
Kanex launched its initial Mini DisplayPort Adapter, and for this reason, the company considered it necessary to update this very useful adapter as well. So, they've recently announced the iAdapt HDMI V2, which has been engineered to support full 1080p HD video output and audio to a single HDMI cable.
According to Kanex, their
adapter has been exclusively designed for Apple MacBook, MacBoook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and iMac systems featuring a Mini DisplayPort connector. The adapter supports audio and video passthrough for April 2010 MacBook / April 2010 MacBook Pro and all 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac desktop computers.
The device easily converts video signal from Mini DisplayPort to HDMI format for use with HD monitors, projectors, and HDTVs, being able to easily display video in full 1080p HD. Plus, its simple design allows for a single cable solution for HDMI
connectivity.
Going a bit more in-depth, from a technical point of view, it's interesting to note that this thing will easily support HDMI 225MHz/2.25Gbps per channel (6.75Gbps total) bandwidth, Deep Color 12bit per channel (36bit color depth), as well as uncompressed digital LPCM 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channels and compressed digital Bit-Stream (Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio) through HDMI Input.
Unlike most similar products available out there, the Kanex adapter is actually more or less affordable, as it sells for just around 30 US dollars.
