As you're probably quite well aware of, the level of cyber-crime and data theft has increased quite a lot lately, partly due to the effects of the economic crisis. And since there have been quite a few cases in which USB flash drives carrying important or sensitive information have been either misplaced or misappropriated, the need for ultra-secure, “hacker-proof” portable storage solutions is ever more dire.
For this reason, Kanguru Solutions has launched the Kanguru Bio AES series of USB flash drives, which offers a higher level of security for the data stored within, due both to the 256-bit AES encryption system used for locking down the data and the built-in biometric system used for accessing them.
Furthermore, after undergoing some pretty thorough testing, the Bio AES encrypted flash drive has managed to obtain the United States Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS 140-2) Certification, which (for those of you who're not quite “into” this whole secure storage field) sets the standard for encryption algorithms intended for use in protecting sensitive government information.
The Kanguru Bio AES, although sophisticated in design and technology, is very easy to use. The Bio AES comes with a user friendly setup wizard that walks you through the fingerprint scanning process and, as an added benefit, all saved fingerprints, as well as the security program itself are stored directly on the drive. It can be used with most Windows platforms and requires no administration privileges.
“The FIPS Certification of the Kanguru Bio AES and the recent release of our remote management application reinforce Kanguru’s position as a leader in secure storage solutions,” said Don Brown, CEO of Kanguru Solutions. “We take pride in being able to meet the needs of our government and enterprise customers, whether it’s FIPS certification, drive customization or remote management.”
The Kanguru Bio AES is available in capacities ranging from 1GB to 8GB and its pricing starts at somewhere near 80 US dollars, which is, in fact, a pretty decent price point, especially given the enhanced level of security this thing can provide.
