Remember when you were kids those iron filing boards that you could draw on? The economic way to keep the more talented
kids busy. You know, those kids that just couldn't leave the pencil down, not even at the table. Infinite drawings could be made on one. Of course, if you weren't the curious type that just had to know what was inside them, you probably have one right now, not like others that smashed theirs into pieces.
Well, this is exactly what Improv Electronics has developed. When I say “exactly,” I am only talking about the gadget's usages, not at all about the technology it is built on. This device worthy of the century we live in is actually a non-power flexible LCD based on Reflex
technology from Kent Displays.
Now they say it can be used even by executives, but I am not sure how they would feel when explaining to their employees that the presentation they have just
seen was drawn on a Boogie Board. Should have worked on the name a little, if you ask me.
So, this is the Boogie Board Writing Tablet from Kent Displays that has just formed Improv Electronics. Its new product has a lifetime of 50,000 erases, which is very good for a flexible LCD. This is possible because it is made out of plastic instead of glass, like LCDs are usually made. The Boogie Board Writing Tablet is powered by a watch battery and is highly responsive to the included stylus.
They say it is a greener way of taking notes, etc. because of its cost. Compare it with the cost of writing on paper and you will get a number 15 times smaller. It will only be available in the U.S. at a retail price of $29.97.
