For quite a long time, Kingston has been one of the most important players in the field of solid-state drives, and now, the company's taking things to the next level by introducing the Kingston SSDNow V+180 range, a sub-branch of the SSDNow V+ series available in the 1.8-inch form factor.

The Kingston SSDNow V+180 uses MLC NAND Flash memory, is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities and can reach a sequential speed of 230MB/secs read, 180MB/sec. Write.

They also pack 128MB of on-board cache memory, support SMART technology and connect to a computing system via the Micro SATA (mSATA) 1.5 Gb/s & 3.0 Gb/s interfaces.

Furthermore, the new SSD units from Kingston have a 1,000,000 hours MTBF, support 2.7G operating vibrations and 20G non-operating vibrations, while operating shock resilience has been set at 1500G.

Since they have an 1.8-inch format, it shouldn't be a surprise the fact that they're pretty slim too, measuring 54mm x 78.5mm x 5mm and weighing around 48 grams.

“Kingston Technology has listened to its customers, delivering the SSDNow V+180 Series” said Steve Hall, EMEA product development manager of flash, Kingston Technology.

“Enterprises, SMBs and consumers can upgrade ultra-thin notebooks, certain notebooks and netbooks with a 1.8-inch form factor to enjoy supercharged performance, enhanced endurance and boosted productivity.” Mr. Hall added.

Pricing and availability details for these SSD units were not available at the time this article has been published, but we promise to find out more on this issue as soon as possible.
