The economic period we're going through is not exactly fantastic, and for this reason, quite a few manufacturers of various electronic products are either slashing their price tags or releasing more affordable products, in a bid to make consumers look their way. And that's also the case with audio equipment manufacturer Klipsch, which has just introduced three new systems targeting mostly consumers who are not quite willing to pay too much for good-quality audio nowadays.
As Rachel Cericola from
Electronic House informs us, the three new entry-level 5.1 audio systems presented by Klipsch are the HD Theater 1000, HD Theater 500 and HD Theater 300, all of which have their own particular (and quite interesting) set of features.
Hence, the HD Theater 1000 has five identical speakers for main, surround and center channels, each of these speaker units featuring dual 2.5-inch fiber composite woofers and a MicroTractrix Horn-loaded 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter. For lows, the HD Theater 1000 uses an active subwoofer with a 10-inch fiber composite woofer and a digital hybrid amp.
Next in line is the HD Theater 500, which comes equipped with 2.5-inch IMG drivers, an 8-inch down-firing subwoofer and a class D digital amp. The center channel speaker has also been modified, featuring a dual-woofer driver in the case of the HD Theater 500.
Last, but certainly not least, comes the HD Theater 300, having the same drivers and features as the 500 series, but a much-compact 6.5-inch subwoofer and a magnetically shielded center channel.
What makes these things different from the company's other products (which are typically pretty expensive) is the price point. Hence, the most advanced of the three systems, the HD Theater 1000, will sell for around 900 US dollars when it arrives in stores in February, while the other two, the 500 and the 300 (slated to be released over the course of March) will sell for $599 and $399, respectively.
