It would seem that more and more people are willing to install weatherproof audio systems in their backyards and gardens, since Klipsch has just joined the growing number of audio solutions' manufacturers that come up with speakers and audio systems specially designed to be used outdoors.
The AudioRock is a single speaker stereo unit that provides dual channel audio signal, while the granite finish allows them to blend into most outdoor environments.
However, the device won't work on its own, but in fact users also have to get Klipsch's LightSpeaker System, that enables wireless, multi-room audio for people who want to enjoy their music wherever they might be around the house.
The AudioRock features a built-in wireless receiver that syncs up with the LightSpeaker’s powerful 2.4GHz
wireless transmitter.
You can connect two music sources (i.e. iPod, PC or TV) to the transmitter, as well as establish two separate listening zones.
Furthermore, you don’t need to plug the AudioRock into a power source because it comes with a rechargeable lithium battery pack that, when fully charged, provides up to eight hours of uninterrupted listening, after a four-hour charging period.
Optimally tuned for open-air environments, the AudioRock delivers balanced
stereo sound over a wide listening area.
Inside its UV-protected enclosure, the AudioRock employs dual 0.75-inch polypropylene tweeters for crisp highs and a dual voice coil 5.25-inch injection molded polypropylene woofer for deep lows.
These high and low-frequency drivers sit at a 20-degree upward angle to ensure great sound performance when placed at ground level.
The AudioRock sells for around $199, which is not exactly a very small sum, especially since the rest of the LightSpeaker System costs $600.
