I don't know how many of you are fans of the Steampunk trend, but these 3D glasses/goggles are a must see. If you are the type of person that likes to draw huge crowds' attention, you might want to wear them next time you go to see a 3D movie at your local Imax theater, as this particular model here is built with lenses of Real3D glasses, used in cinemas. It seems Will Rockwell has gotten his hands on a whole case of cinema 3D glasses as he is selling them via the Etsy website.
Yes,
they are geeky, yes, they are steampunk and, yes, their name is Kraken Steampunk 3D Goggles. Handmade from materials like soft leather, lamp parts, clock gears, snaps, copper meshes and brass, these glasses are “extremely comfortable to wear,” yeah, right, and they are also quite sturdy. This part I believe. And I tend to believe they are sturdy not because of how they look, but because the manufacturer says that they are screwed and soldered together.
You might want to turn up early at the cinema and occupy your chair in order for everyone to see you wearing them, because as soon as the lights are out, nobody will be turning their heads away from the 3D movie in order to try and
see your goggles through the typical darkness of the movie theater. I will also tell you steampunk fans that they come in a genuine vintage goggle box, custom re-designed with original graphics and that they are available for $200 with $10 shipping costs in the States, and $18 in the rest of the world.
Not one reason for needing fashion 3D glasses in a movie theater comes to my mind right now, but I am sure
some people will find them interesting enough and actually wear them. So, watch out for these people next time you go to see a movie in 3D. Now you know what their goggles are for. The guys at
Slashgear got their eyes on them first.
