This new access control unit has just been announced by L-1 Identity Solutions but it is actually developed together with Hitachi. Without their FingerVein technology, the 4G FingerVein Station would not have been completed by L-1 Identity Solution that brought their proprietary 4G access control solution in the equation. With the addition of the 4G FingerVein Station to their security solutions, L-1 now has a complete collection of access control devices that include
finger and face recognition.
“With nearly half a million of our access control solutions in use today around the world, our customers have come to rely upon L-1 to deliver a faster and more accurate means of granting employee access to buildings and secure areas using multiple modalities without compromising security,” said Rich Agostinelli, President of the Biometrics / Enterprise Access Division.
What this new finger
vein-based technology does better than the old one you can now find on most access systems, including on all sorts of gadgets, is read the details that are very hard to forge or manipulate in any way, from your finger veins.
The old infra-red solutions could be influenced by major details like dry or worn fingers, while this fresh biometric access control device can go even further with analyzing a person's skin. The new 4G FingerVein Station can provide future users with multiple levels of authentication and even work with proximity and smart cards.
These systems capable of very accurate processing of data from one’s veins are also built with wireless LAN abilities, so that remote control can be performed, and easy integration in any building is assured. The multitude of keys you see on the apparatus is justified, as some of the keys are for programmable functions such as sending real-time notifications from one part of the building to another. An
L-1 FingerVein Station can store up to two million transaction logs. It will be available starting with June.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
