L-1 Identity Solutions Inc., provider of identity solutions and services, released a series of indoor weatherized and extreme access control devices for the commercial and government market. There was an order already made for the 4G PIV-TWIC Station Extreme that was designed to meet the
needs of specialized ports, military bases and airports. Mind that all of the product series announced will be showcased this week at the Biometrics Consortium Conference in Tampa, Florida.
The 4G PIV-TWIC Station Extreme is a ruggedized system that can easily withstand climates with temperatures well above zero degrees, down to -13 degrees Fahrenheit as well as high desert temperatures of up to 158 degrees. Being IP-65 certified, the device is capable of
normal operation in severe rain, ice and snow. The unit will identify users with maximum accuracy, without regarding finger condition – be it wet, greasy, severely dry, cut or damaged – also including added security capabilities such as fake fingerprint detection and anti-spoofing.
"Our access control solutions can now perform in any operating condition and in any government and commercial installation," said Robert V. LaPenta, chairman, president and CEO of L-1 Identity Solutions. "I am particularly pleased with our new PIV-TWIC reader, a solution that is a direct response to the need for a more robust device for securing access to our nation's ports. Early feedback on the unit from the field indicates that it is significantly stronger than other readers under pilot at the ports today and we believe much of the functionality we offer in the unit today will set a new standard for the industry in the future."
Other tech specs of the 4G PIV-TWIC Station Extreme include the 3.5-inch color LCD screen that can display 2D color images contained on cards, MARSEC and threat level security, Certificate Revocation Lists, biometric templates, as well as Ethernet, PoE and WiFi support.
