It's quite interesting to see LG choosing the exact same day as Nokia for the launch of some new smarpthones, albeit based on a completely different platform, but nevertheless, they did, the Korean company introducing two interesting smartphones in the Optimus family, namely the One and the Chic handsets running the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS.
The first model we'll talk about today (we'll also detail the second one in another article) is the LG One, a smartphone equipped with a 3.2-inch display that is optimized for popular Google Mobile Services including Google Voice Search, Google Voice Actions, Google Goggles, Google Shopper and Google Maps with navigation, and also offer access to the vast catalog of more than 80,000 Android applications.
Featuring a fun, user-friendly user interface,
LG Optimus One also includes the exclusive LG App Advisor, which recommends 10 highly rated applications every two weeks.
The uniquely designed LG UI (user interface) and sleek new accessories such as carkit cradle offer users easier and more intuitive ways to enjoy all the benefits of the brand-new Froyo.
Unfortunately, spec-wise, LG's not provided any significant information regarding the handset's “brains” (mentioning just the fact that we're talking about a 600 Mhz CPU), so we can't be sure whether the
Optimus One runs on NVIDIA'2 Tegra 2 platform or not.
However, they do offer plenty of additional technical information, including the size and weight (113.5 x 59 x 13.3 mm, 129 g), the capacitive touchscreen display's resolution (320 x 480 pixels), the supported connectivity options (3G, Wi-Fi, GSM, etc.) as well as the impressive list of supported audio (WMA, (e) AAC+ / WAV) and video (H.263, H264, MP4, WMV, AVI, DivX / Xvid) codecs.
The LG Optimus One also comes equipped with a 3-megapixel camera supporting H/264 / MPEG4: VGA 18fps video recording, a 2.1+EDR Bluetooth module, as well as support for reading plenty of office files, such as PDF, DOC, PPT, XLS, GIF, JPG, TXT.
Last, but certainly not least, we'll mention that this thing packs an 1500 mAh battery, which should prove to be enough for up to 700 hours of stand-by time (2G usage) and up to 480 minutes of talk time.
The LG Optimus One will be available in over 90 countries via 120 partners and will arrive in most of Europe in October followed by other EMEA and Asia-Pacific countries, pricing depending mostly on local markets and carriers.
