As some of you will certainly remember, LG chose the exact same day as HTC (incidentally, the opening day of Nokia World as well) for announcing two new Android smartphones, the Optimus One and the Chic, and now, the Korean company has just revealed the fact that two Optimus handsets will be available at some of the US' top mobile carriers under the names LG Optimus T (for T-Mobile) and LG Optimus S (for Sprint).
According to LG Mobile, the
Optimus T and Optimus S have been designed with new smartphone consumers in mind since both devices boast navigation features that are easier than ever to use through applications such as Google Maps, which offers users turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates and 360° destination views that will simplify travel.
Equipped with Google Voice Search, each handset enables users to make a Google query all by simply speaking directly into the phone.
The LG Optimus T with Google is available exclusively from T-Mobile and, according to the carrier, targets users who are looking for an easy-to-use and affordable smartphone option.
The device runs on the Android Platform 2.2 with fully integrated Google services, including Voice Actions for Android, Google Search by Voice, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk, as well as a customizable home screen, expandable to seven panes, with a menu of pre-installed widgets.
Other features include a 3.2-inch touch screen display with virtual QWERTY keyboard, and accelerometer, SWYPE text input for fast, accurate communication, personal and corporate e-mail capability, including support for Exchange, Gmail and most POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts as well as synchronization with Google and corporate contacts and calendars.
Last, but certainly not least, the phone also comes packed with a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom and camcorder.
The
LG Optimus S from Sprint is not significantly different from the T version, apart from the fact that it comes with the capability of accessing Sprint ID, a new user-friendly way of personalizing Android devices that allows users to quickly download ID packs that deliver a predefined experience, including applications, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers, all at once.
Other features worth mentioning include Wi-Fi connectivity with Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot supporting up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 3G experience simultaneously, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and camcorder, Google Maps with Navigation, a Music player with 32GB microSD card slot (2GB card included) and Bluetooth connectivity.
"The LG Optimus handsets allow users to take everything the traditional smartphone has to offer and make it truly their own," said Ehtisham Rabbani, corporate vice president of marketing and innovation for LG Mobile Phones.
"With customizable features and helpful everyday tools, LG Optimus T and LG Optimus S provide powerful handset options to users looking for an uncomplicated and stylish, first-time smartphone experience," LG Mobile's rep added.
