One of the things I've noticed about Lacoste products found anywhere in the world (even in those parts of the globe where clothing prices are lower) is that they have more or less the same price point, and the respective sum is often a very high one. For this reason, the recent announcement made by ModeLabs that it has partnered with the famous clothing and apparel manufacturer in order to roll out a Lacoste-branded mobile handset immediately brought one thing to mind: a big price tag.
Well, for the time being, there's very little info available regarding what these future handsets will offer, so we've got no idea on whether we are talking about luxury models or just ordinary phones with a crocodile logo slapped across the face. Regardless of which of these two variants will apply, they'll most likely be priced way above their real value.
However, the companies'
joint announcement does provide a bit of insight on just what we should expect from these future devices, since these things will apparently “reflect such values as quality, simplicity and elegance, which have made this brand so successful all around the world.”
ModeLabs Group, the company chosen by Lacoste for creating its branded mobile phones, is a fairly new player on the mobile handsets' market, which deals with the design, development and distribution of handsets through a wide variety of channels, including here mobile carriers and specialized shops.
To tell you the truth, I do believe that Lacoste’s endeavor will ultimately prove to be similar to all the other co-branded mobile phones out there. Sure, they'll probably look good, have a nice logo stuck onto them and benefit from a lot of marketing, but that will pretty much be it, with no truly impressive, breakthrough features to brag about.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
