As some of you will certainly remember, around two weeks ago, the first alleged spy shots of the
next-gen Xbox 360 motherboard were leaked onto the web, the entire world being quite taken by surprise not only by the various tech and configuration details, but mostly by the fact that the overall size of the respective component suggested the possibility of a serious slim-down job of the console's future iteration.
And now, it looks like the first photos of the finite unit (or at least a very good mock-up of the exterior case) have managed to find their way onto the web, courtesy of Dutch website
Gamekings.tv. Naturally, they claim that the source of the photos is a reliable one and that they really depict the next-gen console, although that's about as far as they're willing to go in terms of disclosing the source or providing more info on it.
As you can see for yourselves, the alleged
next-gen console is a lot slimmer than the original Xbox 360 console, the reduction ratio being more or less the same as in the case of the Sony PS3 and the PS3 Slim.
More importantly, as far as we're concerned, it really looks like something we'd liked to buy, instead of the current-generation noisy, heat-generating and large device.
Of course, this might be just the work of a clever modder or a hardcore fan that decided to build their own version of
Xbox, so you should take it with a pretty big grain of salt. Nevertheless, we hope it's for real, given the fact that it manages to maintain the overall Xbox 360 look, while featuring a significantly smaller and slimmer form factor.
Oh, well, guess we'll have to wait for a few more months before ultimately finding out whether these pics are real or not, but now it seems such a long wait.
