There's a tendency right now to add more and more functionality to even the simplest of devices, Lenovo's notebook power brick, USB hub, offering being the latest arrival to take this approach.
Promoted by Lenovo as a revolutionary product this thing is nothing more than a ThinkPad power brick, compatible with 90W and 65W machines, that also packs a four port USB hub/charger. Three of the available ports are standard USB 2.0 with both synchronization and charge functions, the fourth being a dedicated charge port capable of charging your devices even when your laptop is away. Although things sound pretty nice until now, Lenovo's Power Hub is not without its flaws, since this power brick requires to be connected to an empty USB port in order to be used as a hub, the cable provided being very short, forcing the user to place this on the same surface as its notebook taking up important desk space and adding to the cable clutter. However, Lenovo says that most of their customers that buy a laptop also purchase a spare power adapter and a USB hub separately, so this could be one cost effective device. I, for one, don't know what to make of Lenovo's claim, but if you happen to own a ThinkPad and you want to bay an extra power brick and a USB hub then make sure to check out this thing since, at $74.99, it's reasonably priced.
