Although Lenovo is mostly famous for its ThinkPad business laptops, I am pretty sure most of you know it also has a line of more common netbooks, namely the IdeaPad S series. Well, the S series has received an upgrade, ladies and gents, and that's what I am going to talk to you about today: the S10-2 netbook.
What first comes to mind when you look at the S10-2 is the friendlier look, with a new thinner and rounded design, with no sharp corners and such. Weighing just 2.2 pounds, the fresh IdeaPad S series has an improved keyboard, 3G networking and multiple lid colors (white, black, pink and gray) for those of you that may want your netbook to look somewhat different.
Believe it or not, the hardest part in designing a netbook keyboard (because that's the most important improvement, basically), is how you handle the compromise between key size and placement. And, usually, the “right shift” key gets reduced in size. Well, the right shift key has been tweaked to be slightly bigger, allowing for increased typing speed (it’s incredible what one larger key can do for your speed).
As for the actual build of the IdeaPad S10-2, you've heard it a lot of times before: Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB had drive. A thing of novelty would be the quick-launch of a pre-Windows OS (a Linux-based feature that allows quick-access to the Internet without having to boot Windows) and the inclusion of facial recognition software.
As for pricing, it is supposed to start at 349 USD and topping at 399 USD in case you're planning on buying the 3G-enabled IdeaPad S10-2. And we all know that's the version everyone is going for. So cute, cuddly and available: get'em boys and girls!
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
