A Portuguese company called Displax, specialized in making touch-enabled surfaces through any means necessary, has now developed the Displax film, which turns '90s Science Fiction movies into present day reality. If, then, you went “Wow!” when you saw touch-screens everywhere, today it doesn't seem all that spectacular, does it? You are probably thinking of the
practical aspects of the Displax instead of acting all weird and astonished. Let me give you an example, you will not have to carry a mouse for your laptop anymore.
The Displax film can turn any surface into a touch-enabled one because it is made out of a complex array of nanowires that will feel your every touch or any kind of movement from a distance of up to 15mm. The best news isn't that it can be used on glass, wood and a variety of materials for that matter, but that the Displax works with curved panels as well. This ability can really help turn most devices into
touch sensitive ones.
For a 50-inch surface, the Displax can support 16 touch points, which the manufacturers want to improve to 65 simultaneously multi touching. They say that although the Displax can act upon airflow pressure, like breathing, the wind's flow does not affect the miraculous screen. Because of this, you do not even have to wash your hands before using it, as the need for actual tactile contact is not necessary, you
lazy couch potatoes.
Displax manufactures it in sizes of up to 3 meters (9 feet) in diagonal. The minimum size they have developed it in is 18 cm (7 inches). By the end of this year, we will be touching the very first devices that use a Displax film, if things go according to plan.
