I was really wondering when this would appear (I'm not telling you just yet what), since I have already written about two diving masks that sported digital cameras. No worries, I'm telling you already that this is about the Summit Series snow goggle coming from Liquid Image, which is
the same company that designed the underwater goggles.
This is supposedly the first ever snow goggle that integrates a digital camera. The Summit Series Snow Camera Goggle is the full name, but I'll resume calling it short one-word or two-word names along, and continue with describing that the digital camera sports a wide angle lens to provide capturing of all action, what the user sees, and more, while he or she is skiing, boarding, snowmobiling (or just any other winter/snow related sport that requires goggles).
Aside from sporting the versatility of having a face-mounted design (I want my copyright over this), this easy-to-use camera has little controls as to not misguide the user while trying to snap a picture. Users will find large side buttons for On/Off/Mode comfy placed, as well as the shutter button, of course.
That provides a better dexterity while wearing gloves. For the On/Off/Mode button, I can only think of a simple usage like click to open, click to change modes, click and hold to turn off.
Technical specifications include a 5.0 MP snap for taking still pictures, while the video mode sports a resolution I've come to grow quite fond of (don't ask why because I don't know), namely 720 x 480 pixels, at a frame rate of 30fps and with included audio. Also, the goggles are packed with LED lights inside for mode indication.
Built-in memory is a mere 16MB NAND Flash, but users can easily expand that by employing Micro SD/SDHC memory cards of up to 16GB. The battery is a lithium rechargeable estimated to last for about 2,200 still images or 2:20 hours of video (which is clearly marketing just judging by how clean those numbers are). Pricing for this one is estimated at $149.00.
