Breaking the habit a little from the Asus products, this colleague of mine jumped over and
took a peek at what MSI had to show, and took some pictures, and played with the latest U160 Wind netbook, so he could tell me about it, as a hands-on. As far as it concerned Alex, he didn't notice major or dramatic differences, besides the obvious processor change. That alone seems to have made the netbook faster, but I don't know how noticeable the difference is.
Aside from that, the common Wind design, with a responsive experience, referring to the lack of delay between operations, and multi-tasking. Moving along towards the product’s features, the U160 has received the IF Design award, provides a very long battery lifetime on a single charge, rated for up to 15 hours on a six-cell unit, which I have to say is most impressive, especially considering that many people gave up using the internet that much anymore.
You all noticed the comfy Chiclet keyboard and the seamless touchpad, but it is probably not that noticeable that the U160 is also smaller, thus more portable. Technical specifications tell us this packs
the latest Intel offering for netbooks, namely the Atom N450 processor, in the Intel NM10 chip, and aided by a maximum of 2GB of DDR II 667MHz.
All of this technology has to show customers something, and so it does, via the 10" WSVGA LCD monitor, and backed up by the Intel GMA 3150 graphics adapter. There is also mentioning of an optional external super-multi, which is probably an optical drive, since the Wind U160 netbook, like other netbooks, is too small to fit an internal optical drive. Two of my cents, and I would mention that I really dislike the hinges of the U160.
