Technology seems to have conquered everything, all of the human fields of interests, even fashion. This is how the permanently increasing number of interactive apparel can be explained. From glowing shoes and solar-powered bags to “made for iPod” and heated clothing, high-tech garments have ceased to appeal only to a limited category of people.
Numerous companies enter this segment of activity every day and the UK-based Location street wear brand is one of the latest to do so. For those who haven't heard of it yet, Location is an independent street wear brand based in Manchester that, since its launch, has fused together sportswear and urban street wear, producing clothing that is durable, functional, innovative and technical. The brand is one of the most sought after in the UK, as a result of its attention to detail and functionality.
The latest addition to its portfolio is represented by two interactive, cool looking jackets, the Hero 3 ICU iPod jacket and the Hero 3 ICU Speaker jacket. Both have a dedicated iPod pocket with Fibertronic’s CONNECTED-wear controls integrated into the sleeve for use of the iPod without the need to expose it to the elements.
The Hero jackets are sold bundled with Fibretronic’s IP30 iPod module but they are also compatible with the full range of CONNECTED-wear modules for audio and mobile phone controls.
In addition to the iPod control, the Hero 3 ICU Speaker jacket comes with an amplifier and 2x 2.5W Loc-Tech speaker modules that can be attached onto the hood. Via a 3.5mm line-in connector, any MP3 player or audio player (they are compatible with all iPods except 1st generation, 2nd generation, and shuffle) can connect to the Hero speaker jacket.
In addition to the audio elements, the Hero range comes with an integrated RECCO Avalanche Rescue System that might save the wearer’s life in case he/she gets caught by an avalanche or gets lost in the mountains.
Other unique features include a double-hood system with built-in reflective goggles, Azaleum Outdoor Protect two-layer fabric for maximum water repelling and breathability. Both retail for approximately 200 US dollars.
