One of the compromises the manufacturers of ultra-portable systems and netbooks were forced to accept was somewhat of a reduction in the number of connectivity options provided right on the platform, something that, nevertheless, was going to be mitigated by the presence of external USB accessories. And this is exactly the type of product you'll read about as follows, namely the Universal LAN and USB HUB presented by Japanese company Logitec (there's no spelling error, this is different from Logitech), a tiny device that will certainly go well with some of those ultra-slim, ultra-portable systems out there.

Practically, what this device does is offer no less than three USB 2.0 interfaces, plus a network connector, all by taking up just one UBS connector on the body of the portable computing system (where at least three such ports are usually available). This way, users will be able to avoid some of that clutter that usually occurs around the USB area, especially if he/she also uses several other USB devices on the side.

The Ethernet port is compliant with the 100BASE-TX / 10BASE-T specifications, while its USB connectors are also powered (200 mA or less). Plus, this thing will occupy very little space in one's laptop bag, given the fact that it measures 98 x 36 x 20 mm and, if you want to install it in some specific location, you can easily do so via the two magnets and two screw holes it comes packed with.

In order to match the many netbook and notebook variants available out there (including here the Mac systems), the tiny hub is available in two color versions, namely either black or white. Price-wise, these things are affordable, selling for somewhere in the vicinity of 3,200 Japanese Yen (or 32 US dollars).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
