Beside the actual Revue with Google TV set-top box and Keyboard Controller that we've talked about earlier, Logitech has also announced a couple of very interesting accessories and extras for this offering, probably the most interesting being the Logitech Mini Controller and the TV Cam and Logitech Vid HD, that practically turn the Revue into a telepresence solution.
The Logitech Mini Controller is a palm-sized keyboard, touch pad and remote control combo that, as far as we're concerned, takes more than just a few design cues from Logitech's own diNovo Mini wireless keyboard.
Despite its compact size, just 6-inches by 3.5-inches, the Mini Controller offers full control over the Google TV experience, featuring a touch pad that removes the need for a mouse, as well as illuminated keys that change color depending on the mode you’re in: green for navigation, orange for typing and pointing.
Like the
Logitech Keyboard Controller, the Mini Controller provides buttons to control your TV, A/V receiver and DVR, while also packing a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can go up to two weeks between charges.
Far more interesting than is the Logitech TV Cam and Logitech Vid HD, a combo that enables video HD calling done in a very fast and easy manner, thus turning the Revue into a direct competitor for the Cisco umi, for all intends and purposes.
The Logitech TV Cam
connects easily with your Logitech Revue box using USB and provides a wide-angle lens that will capture your whole living room, while its 5x digital zoom will enable a much more close and personal experience.
To further optimize the experience for the living room, the TV Cam includes two digital, directional microphones that help reduce noise and echoes in a living room environment and uses Logitech RightLight 2 technology to adjust images in dim lighting situations so you look your best.
Together, the Logitech TV Cam and Vid HD software enable high-definition video calls of up to 720p.
Other interesting extras provided by the Logitech Revue are related to the device's Applications section, where one will find the Logitech Media Player, as well as the Logitech Harmony for iPhone and the Logitech Harmony for Android, that can enhanced the level of communication between the aforementioned smartphone families and the STB from Logitech.
As expected, these devices do come at some pretty hefty price points, the Logitech Mini Controller having a suggested retail price of $129.99 (U.S.), while the Logitech TV Cam's suggested retail price is $149.99 (U.S.).
