As some of you might remember, Logitech launched back in mid-June a very interesting VoIP application for video communications, called
Vid. And in order to further enhance the importance of such a service, the company has just introduced a “couple” of new webcams (no less than seven of them, to be precise), which are divided into three different categories, depending on the specific market segment they target.
So, first and foremost, we've got the Webcam Pro 9000 and Portable Webcam C905 models that target the premium crowd, featuring Zeiss optics with autofocus, a 2-megapixel HD sensor that delivers video up to 720p and snapshots at up to 8 megapixels (software enhanced), as well as Logitech's RightLight 2 technology, which intelligently adjusts to produce the best possible images. The main difference between the two models is the design, making the Portable Webcam C905 easy to transport.
Next in line come the two mid-range models, namely the
Logitech Webcam C600 and Logitech Webcam C500. The first of the two, the C600, sports a 2-megapixel sensor, which can be used for recording videos at up to 720p and taking snapshots at 8 megapixels. The second, the C500, comes equipped with a 1.7-megapixel sensor, capable of 5-megapixel photo captures.
Last, but certainly not least, are the three new models from the entry-level segment, namely the Logitech Webcam C300, Logitech Webcam C250, Logitech Webcam C200. The C300 is, obviously, the most advanced model, being able to take 5-megapixel photos, followed by the C250 that features a VGA sensor, the ability to take snapshots at up to 1.3 megapixels (software enhanced), as well as the possibility to apply live effects to the images. Finally, the C200 is also equipped with a VGA sensor and takes snapshots at up to 1.3 megapixels (software enhanced).
All of the seven new
webcams from Logitech are slated to arrive in stores over the course of August and will retail starting at 30 US dollars (the C200) and up to 100 US dollars (the Pro 9000).
