Although Netgear is already a major networking product manufacturer, they wanted to spice things up by collaborating with Ericsson for the development of the MBRN3300E 3G
Wireless Router. This is good news for users because the added 3G ability to a Netgear Wireless and Ethernet router will surely come in handy. Here is what the officials said.
"We are thrilled to cooperate with Ericsson, the global leader in 3G mobile broadband network technology," said Michael Clegg, vice president and general manager of the NETGEAR Service Provider Business Unit. "This collaboration furthers our position with mobile operators, and the resulting mobile platform can be migrated to higher speeds and enabled with added features going forward. It is a clear win-win partnership."
Mats Norin, vice president of Mobile Broadband Modules at Ericsson, added, "Mobile broadband connectivity over HSPA in routers opens up new opportunities in yet-untapped home, SOHO and semi-nomadic user scenarios. We are excited to deliver mobile broadband connectivity to a new segment, home network routers for NETGEAR."
The
Mobile Broadband Internet machine has four 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports, integrated 3G wireless data modem and antennas (three models up to 20 Mbps), Firewall and WPS for Wi-Fi Access point. Use the UPnP port and a VPN network to securely play games with your close friends or for secure data transfer in the household. A powerful tool for the ISPs, the MBRN3300E 3G Wireless Router built by Netgear and Ericsson can help them provide more LAN-centric Mobile Data Plans with increased traffic limits.
An interesting
collaboration between these world-wide companies and besides the product being launched here, I am sure that they are cooking something else too. Maybe time will tell, but just to collaborate over one product doesn't seem like good business. I guess we will be seeing a new line of products that are born out of these two companies' technologies put together.
