Well, I for one only have heard about 3D-capable notebooks, but little did I know that my colleague Alex already had his hands-on such a device, namely the MSI GT660 notebook, right at the company's CeBIT booth. This is one of the latest devices in the field of portable 3D solutions, and according to him,
the 3D experience is more than decent. Next on the hands-on preview, Alex mentioned that the integrated sound system of the MSI GT660 was quite impressive, at least to what regards quality and clarity of audio reproduction.
I am curious if it is possible that manufacturers finally understood it's not just loudness that matters, but that's not my business, this time. Driving in the technical specifications, I found the notebook packs the exclusive Turbo Drive Engine from MSI, as well as Intel's Turbo Boost Technology, for ensuring optimum balance between performance and battery life.
Now I see why Alex was impressed with the audio quality of the GT660, as the maker packed it with Dynaudio Premium sound, which is another audio company I respect very much, and DTS surround.
As for the hardware itself, the GT660 takes advantage of the latest Intel Quad Core processor, namely the Core i7-720QM CPU, installed on the HM55 chipset, and complemented graphically by an Nvidia GTX 285M with GDDR3 1GB VRAM, both backed up by up to 12GB of random access memory, in three SO-DIMM 1333MHz slots.
Knowing this is a 3D-capable notebook,
I bet you're curious about the display size, which I'm glad to tell you is a sweet 16-inch capable of both HD and HD+ resolutions, thus 1,920 x 1,080 and 2,048 x 1,080, without mentioning which is the native one, but I can relate to the fact that the HD+ is native, since the display is not said to be wide. The GT660 also has USB 3.0 and Dual Hard disk support.
