It comes as no surprise that after every GPU launch by either Nvidia or AMD there are countless graphics cards makers that start announcing their solutions based on those chips and the recently introduced GT 430 doesn't come as an exception (even though Nvidia says this card is actually built for the OEM sector), MSI just launching its N430GT series of video cards.
It doesn't take too long to notice this is one of the fiercest GT 430 based graphics cards to hit the market since MSI decided to use not just one, but two fans to cool their factory overclocked creation, while a more “standard” version that features a single fan design is also available.
Although the basic version doesn't come with anything special, being pretty much your standard 96 CUDA cores packing GT 430, the overclocked N430GT-MD1GD3/OC/LP comes with a 785 MHz core (85MHz above Nvidia's specifications) while also using faster 2000MHz DDR3 memory.
MSI states that all its GT 430 offerings feature “Military Class Concept components,” such as supper ferrite chokes and all solid capacitors for increased performance and overclocking while also delivering 10% better efficiency, and 30% higher current to the GPU.
The MSI Afterburner software is also included allowing users to modify the core as well as the memory voltage,
MSI promising “up to 20% overclocking capability.”
The usual Nvidia features such as 3D Vision and PhysX are also there, although I have to wonder who will actually want to pay more for such a basic graphics card since the factory overclocked model is being released at $79, $10 more then Nvidia's recommended price.
Sure, you get a higher clock frequency, but I doubt this will lead to a noticeable improvement in performance since we are talking an entry-level video card, one that Nvidia says it is more suited for HTPC systems then
gaming PCs while also stating this should be compared with integrated graphics.
