Despite going a bit under the radar, MSI has been one of the most prolific notebook manufactures of 2010, the company introducing quite a large number of such portable computing systems, the latest to make their way onto the market being the FX700 and FR700 models.
Both of these
new notebooks from MSI are 17.3-inch machines and share roughly the same features, both in terms of design and hardware configuration, the main difference between the two being the fact that the FX700 comes packed with the nVidia GeForce GT 425M discrete graphics card with 1GB GDDR3 of memory, while its sibling, the FR700, relies instead on an Intel HD Graphics solution.
The new portable systems pack the Intel Core i5 processor and MSI’s TDE turbo technologies, as well as THX’ high-end cinema-class wrap around sound.
MSI worked closely with world-renowned sound system and recording equipment designer Dynaudio to
incorporate high quality sound technology into laptops and to design mobile computing platforms featuring stylish exteriors and enhanced multimedia performance.
Moreover, the systems provide up to 8GB of DDR3-1066MHz memory, 17.3-inch HD+ LED backlight (16:9) displays, a DVD Super Multi ODD and 320/500/640GB HDD options.
MSI's new FX700 and FR700 also deliver plenty of connectivity options, including here 1x HDMI, 1x VGA, 2 x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 5-in-1 card reader ports, plus 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR and Gigabit LAN.
Also notable is the presence of a HD webcam module, capable of recording 720p video at 30 fps.
Unfortunately, pricing and availability details for both products are yet unknown, but that should come as no surprise, since this is, after all, MSI's usual policy when it comes to its new products.
