As you might remember, a while back, we had the chance to take MSI's
GX720 gaming notebook for an in-depth tour, and found it to be quite an interesting gaming and multimedia machine. However, since then, MSI has upgraded the line, the latest addition to this family being the GX733 model, which comes equipped with AMD's Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor.
While the overall design of the GX733 has not changed much compared to the GX720, the new notebook featuring the same black and red color combo, with a few touches of metal, things are rather different on the inside.
Hence, the new gaming notebook incorporates, beside the aforementioned AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor, an AMD RX781+SB700 chipset, as well as up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. The graphics side (so very important in any notebook, especially a gaming one) is being taken care of by an ATi Mobility Radeon HD4670 (built-in DDR3 512MB), while the HD audio system has remained virtually unchanged, with four speakers and a sub-woofer.
For storage, the GX733 uses one SATA HDD (supports capacities of up to 500GB) and, as far as the optical unit is concerned, users are given a choice between a DVD Super Multi drive and a Blu-ray unit. Other features and components worth mentioning are the 2-megapixel camera, multiple-format card reader, Bluetooth and Wireless-N modules, plus the host of connectivity ports, including HDMI or eSATA.
And since we're on the subject of the battery, it's also interesting to note that the MSI GX733 features the ECO Engine solution, which allows users to switch among the five different modes, Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode, and Turbo Battery mode, while performing game applications, playing multimedia applications, performing presentation applications, dealing with office documentation tasks, or looking forward to minimizing the battery power consumption.
No pricing or availability details have been provided for the time being, but given the fact that its predecessors are not exactly very affordable, the same will probably go for this model as well.
