As you might remember, only a few months ago, MSI decided to come up with a portable computing system to rival Apple's MacBook Air as far as the dimensions were concerned, while keeping the price point at a much more affordable level. Apparently, it has managed to do so with its X-Slim line, which we had the chance to see at this year's CeBIT show.
However, according to
NotebookItalia, it looks like MSI is not about to settle with just the X-Slim X340 and X600 models (13-inch and 15.6-inch, respectively), since the company showcased, at a recent event for the Asia-Pacific region, a whole new X-Slim version, the X-400, which can be best described as an intermediary version, since it packs a 14-inch display.
Unfortunately, for the time being, very little is known about the X-400 model, but it's very likely that it will share most of the features common to the X-Slim platform. As you might have heard by now, the X340 is the world's first laptop to come with Intel's CULV platform, and manages to maintain a very slim and elegant form factor, with just a 1.98-cm thickness (only 6 mm at its slimmest point).
Other common features most likely to be shared by all of the models from the X-Slim series will be the fully functional I/O port, HDMI port, as well as Blu-ray support. The devices will most likely provide 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, with WiMAX compatibility being available as an option.
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a bit to see the X-400 arrive on the market, since the first such models consumers will manage to get their hands on will be the X-340 and X-600, both scheduled for a worldwide release at some point in the “near future,” according to
MSI.
