MSI has just announced the next ultraportable X-Slim series notebook. The X600 has an Intel Centrino 2 platform, 16:9 widescreen display and around 2 kg. With it's 15.6 inch you could say he's a close relative to the X-Slim X360. There are so many X-Slims out there it kind of makes you wander what else could they bring new to a market where new suprises come and go at the blink of an eye! Let's see what we know for now.
According to
Engadget, the X600 comes equipped with the usual 3 USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA as well as VGA and HDMI outputs. There's definitely wired Ethernet but nothing is known about wireless connectivity. Keeping in mind that all notebooks tend to have at least Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi, we can expect MSI to go with the flow and at the very least include them into the X600.
A smaller version of the X320 is supposed to appear, named the X340, featuring pretty much0 the same ports but a smaller display. We won't know much about them though until their full launch at CeBIT 2009. Whether this will kill the MacBook Air ultraportable Apple wonder, it remains to be seen. The MacBook has received some criticism due to it's high price, tendency to overheat and lock-up as well as the lack of FireWire, but only time will tell whether MSI will do any better. It's not easy trying to build a paper-thin ultraportable !
People seem to be more and more on the move, and so is technology. There's already a large market for notebooks and an even larger request, with contenders for the title of Top Notebook appearing every day. Will MSI X-Slim X600 prove to really be the MacBook Air Killer? Will it at least match it's opponent? It remains to be seen!
