While MacBook Air notebooks are among the most coveted such portable computing systems around the world, they can hardly be considered among the toughest. However, it would seem that this unibody design is actually tougher than anyone might have thought, namely tough enough to survive even a plane crash.
Hence, as
Macenstein reports, it looks like one lucky MacBook Air has managed to make it through one of the latest major plane crashes, namely the one that occurred earlier this year in Amsterdam and involved a Turkish Airways flight.
The MacBook in question belonged to passenger called Sefer Baris, the whole story being told by one of his friends, Bulent. Apparently, Sefer was sitting “in front [of the airplane]. Seat number seven. (3-4 chairs from the business class). He has his MacBook Air with him, he was watching a movie. When the plane began to land, he closed his MacBook Air, and put it in the skin. A couple of minutes [later] there was the crash.”
The impact on the MacBook Air was pretty big, as you can plainly see from the photos, the notebook getting pretty badly bent and its screen breaking. However, despite all the damage, the notebook still managed to boot up, which is really impressive.
Furthermore, the owner of the notebook has also managed to survive the accident, in spite of being taken to the hospital and undergoing several surgical procedures in order to be able to start moving again.
Well, without a doubt, this story will represent a major publicity boost for Apple. I mean, the company from Cupertino will be able to boast about this thing for a very long time from now on, claiming that its MacBook Air is so tough that it can even survive a plane crash. And, let's face it, it really has something going here.
